Mexican Lily or Amole. Genus named in honour of Friedrich Beschorner, a german amateur botanist. This species has tough, liable grey-green leaves that grow to 60cm long. Although it is related to Yucca and Agave, Beschorneria yuccoides' soft leaves contain no spikes and therefore make it a very useable architectural style handsome plant. A very hardy plant that handles drought, heat and as low as -10 °C. Typically 1m x 1m. Once plants have been established for a few years, red flower stalks may rise up to 1.5m above the foliage. These flowers are a wonder of the plant world, appearing almost triffid like, with bright green flowers and red bracts.
