'Blue Grama' has intriguing qualities. Flag like flowers are like no other grass. Wiry tan grass stalks and aubergine brown seed heads capture the breeze and anyone watching it. It is drought tolerant once established and 40-50cm tall. Planted in drifts it looks brilliant especially with low growing perennials like Rudbeckia, Echinacea and Agastache. It is a warm season perennial that keeps its form well into Winter.

Intriguing name for a plant. The name 'Bad River' to us was always the reason to grow this variety. It is slightly shorter with darker flower spikes than the original form. Flower panicles are held horizontally to the flower stem and appear like mini dragon flies above the foliage. It is a wonderful addition to our gravel garden, where it is combined with Ratibida 'Red Midget' and Agapanthus 'Poppin Purple'.

Cinnamon bronze upright foliage is the reason this sedge is best known. A New Zealand native, it performs best where the Winter is not too wet and the Summer is not scorchingly hot. I know no other plant that polarises people in their opinion more than this one. Some fall in love with the bronze foliage and yet others see it only as a brown grass. We fall into the former and love the contrast it provides, especially with silver or purple foliage. Grows approx. 50cm high x 30cm wide.
