Purple Moor Grass is a tussock forming perennial grass that prefers wet sites or at least garden positions that don't dry out with plenty of humus. It is a fine textured pretty grass that turns a muted orange/yellow in Autumn. The flowers appear long and wispy but when seen collectively they give the impression of a purple haze, hence the name Purple Moor Grass. Native to North Africa, Europe and parts of Asia. Named after Chilean naturalist, Juan Ignacio Molinia. Wonderful mass planted. Height 90cm.
