Very similar to Lepechinia hastata, except the flowering period is earlier in Summer-Autumn (instead of Autumn-Winter), plus Lepechinia salviae is a little more compact in form. Blue green arrow shaped leaves on a plant that reaches 1m tall. It behaves very similarly to herbaceous salvias. The foliage is pleasantly aromatic, reminiscent of mild disinfectant. The flowers are magenta in colour, however in combination with the calyx and flower stem they have an overall smokey hue to the magenta. Drought tolerant once established.
