Highly divided, toothed green foliage forms a base for the architecturally appealing flowers. The flowers are metallic blue with a central cone and a skirt of spikey bracts. 'Pen Blue' grows to 60cm when in flower. It prefers full sun and good drainage. Unlike some other Eryngiums that can handle poorer, gravelly soils, 'Pen Blue' prefers good friable soil that is well mulched.
