Ruscus hypoglossum is a fabulous plant for dry shady areas. Indispensable and very valuable for it will grow in the driest darkest conditions. We have used it many times to solve 'planting issues'. The foliage makes great material for floral arrangements and has its own intriguing botanical twist - the apparent leaves are actually modified stems (cladodes). The flowers then appear in the centre of these cladodes. Grows 1m high x 1m wide. Evergreen perennial that looks more like a shrub. Ruscus can be loosely hedged and looks best en masse.
