A deciduous shrub with intriguing deep purple foliage, attractively mottled with rose-pink and silver. In Autumn the foliage develops red and orange tones before falling, adding seasonal interest. Responds well to pruning and can be clipped into a hedge, screen or used in mixed shrub plantings. The thorny stems make it useful for forming a dense, impenetrable hedge or for blocking thoroughfares. Best grown in full sun to part shade in well drained soil. Approx. 1.5–2 m high x 1.5 m wide.
