Brugmansia versicolor 'Frilly Pink'
- We post to NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT & SA
A show-stopper for those living in frost-free climes!
Brugmansia versicolor 'Frilly Pink' is a tropical triumph - once seen, never forgotten. With its enormous, pendulous trumpet flowers, this spectacular South American beauty is guaranteed to stop you in your tracks. The huge, highly fragrant blooms can reach up to 30cm long, emerging from large, fascinating buds throughout summer and into autumn. With so many flowers hanging gracefully from the branches, it is easy to see why Brugmansia are commonly known as Angel's Trumpets.
A vigorous and fast-growing shrub, 'Frilly Pink' makes a magnificent centrepiece in the garden or can be grown in a large pot where its growth can be more easily managed. It prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil in sun to part shade and benefits from regular watering during the warmer months. In cooler climates, it will need to be protected from frost over winter. Alternatively, plants can be cut back and grown in a bright, sheltered position indoors during the colder months.
We have grown this plant very successfully as far south as Sydney, where it grows to approximately 3-4m high × 2-3m wide. 'Frilly Pink' is a plant for those who want a little drama in the garden.
Fun Fact: Brugmansia flowers are among the largest and most spectacular of all cultivated garden flowers, with some varieties producing trumpets more than 30cm long. Their powerful fragrance is often strongest in the evening, when the flowers open and their pollinators become active.
Important: All parts of Brugmansia are highly toxic if ingested and should be handled with care around children and pets.
