'Greenspire' is a beautiful panicle hydrangea producing long, elegant flower panicles throughout summer. The blooms are made up of lime-green fertile florets surrounded by delicate white sterile florets, creating a fresh, layered appearance. As the season progresses, the white florets gradually blush to soft pink, while the lime-green fertile flowers retain their distinctive colour, providing a beautiful display into autumn.
With a rounded habit, 'Greenspire' is ideal for part-shaded borders, dappled positions and large containers. Growing to approximately 1.5m high × 1.5m wide, it thrives in fertile, moist, well-drained soil and benefits from regular irrigation during dry periods. The long-lasting panicles are excellent for fresh floral arrangements or can be dried for winter displays. Prune in late winter to encourage strong new growth and abundant flowering.
Fun Fact: Unlike bigleaf hydrangeas such as Hydrangea macrophylla, Hydrangea paniculata flowers on new season's growth. This means 'Greenspire' can be pruned back in late winter without removing the flower buds for the coming season.
