An Australian native tussock grass with a soft, graceful habit. It forms a neat clump of fine blue-green foliage, topped in spring and summer by delicate, airy flower heads with a silvery-white appearance.
A hardy and adaptable grass, 'Snow Baby' is ideal for mass planting, borders, rockeries and naturalistic gardens. It performs best in full sun to part shade and tolerates a range of soils provided they are reasonably well drained. Once established, it is drought tolerant and requires minimal maintenance.
Growing naturally across southeastern Australia, Poa sieberiana is associated with the cooler, higher-elevation regions of NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT, including montane and alpine environments. However, its natural range also extends into lower elevation woodland and drier areas, reflecting its adaptability to a wide range of conditions. This natural tolerance of cold and frost makes 'Snow Baby' an excellent choice for cooler climate gardens. Approx. 30cm high × 50cm wide.
Fun Fact: Poa sieberiana is commonly known as Snow Grass, thanks to the soft, silvery appearance of its flowering heads. 'Snow Baby' is a more compact, smaller growing form, making it particularly well suited to smaller gardens and pot culture.
