Hydrangea macrophylla 'Le Cygne' is one of those plants where the name seems to add to its charm. Perhaps it is something about a French name, but 'Le Cygne', meaning 'The Swan', certainly brings a sense of elegance and romance to the garden. This beautiful mophead produces graceful, pure white flower heads with unusually pointed sepals, giving the blooms a delicate and refined appearance.

A strong and reliable cultivar, 'Le Cygne' can reach approximately 1.5m high × 1.5m wide in ideal conditions. It performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil in a part-shaded position, with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Regular watering and a generous layer of mulch will encourage lush growth and abundant flowering.

Fun Fact: 'Le Cygne' was bred in France by renowned horticulturist Henri Cayeux and introduced in 1923. More than a century later, it remains one of the finest white mophead hydrangeas.
