Pomegranates are cultivated around the world and have multiple uses - fruit, medicinal, aesthetic. It is an ancient fruit originating in Persia, first recorded cultivation 2000 B.C. Pomegranates thrive with hot dryish Summers and cool Winters. They are tolerant of drought, poor soil and cold to -10 °C. They make very interesting aesthetics in the landscape with bright orange flowers and "alien" looking fruit. 

'Kazake' is compact in form with rosy red fruit. It is the best variety for cooler areas. Originally from Uzbekistan.
