Carex buchananii
Sold out
Visit product page →Buy 1 for $13.00 / Buy 5 for $55.00
Cinnamon bronze upright foliage is the reason this sedge is best known. A New Zealand native, it performs best where the Winter is not too wet and the Summer is not scorchingly hot. I know no other plant that polarises people in their opinion more than this one. Some fall in love with the bronze foliage and yet others see it only as a brown grass. We fall into the former and love the contrast it provides, especially with silver or purple foliage. Grows approx. 50cm high x 30cm wide.

Reddish brown foliage in a low mounding habit are the features of this grass. Carex comans 'Bronze Form' makes a stunning contrast to Ipomea batatas, Agastache 'Apricot Sprite' or 'Forever Summer Melon', as well as any silver foliage plant. New Zealand in origin, it is often used en masse in public space plantings. It thrives in moist, fertile, well drained soils. Excessive winter wet will cause the plants to rot. Great in pot culture. Approximately 20-30cm tall.
