Quite vertical in its appearance, this shorter form (80cm) of 'Little Blue Stem' has blue grey foliage which turns to a striking autumnal purple, orange hue. Silvery pretty flower heads sit above the foliage in late Summer. 'Prairie Blues' thrives in heat and drought. Excessive nutrients and water will cause it to flop. Stunningly beautiful en masse. Approximately 80cm x 40cm.

An Anemone hybrid that has been bred to bloom profusely over a longer period and spread much more slowly than the true species. Deep rose pink semi-double flowers are held on sturdy stems in early to mid Autumn. It is long lived! Prefers fertile humus rich soils that retain moisture but are free draining. 60cm high x 75cm wide. Perfect for growing in semi shade and underneath trees.

This new variety of Anemone has clean crisp bright white single Anemone flowers with a ring of golden stamens at the centre. Deep green basal foliage gives rise to the superb flowers in late Summer and Autumn. 'Elite Pure White' is a more compact and floriferous variety than the standard and will reach a maximum height of 1.2m when in full bloom. Prefers semi shade and compost enriched free draining soil.

'Coombe Fishacre' bears masses of small lilac-blue flowers with yellow centres and reaches 75cm in height. Like most Asters it will produce an abundance of flowers in late Summer and Autumn. They are truly perennial and need cutting back in Winter. They need well drained soil and will benefit from the addition of compost.

Aster 'Eventide' sports an eye-catching explosion of lavender-purple flowers with a cheery yellow centre. Clusters of semi-double flowers are produced at the tips of branching stems and create a stunning display against the dark green foliage. Pairs nicely with grasses. 60-90cm high x 50cm wide.

Soft pale blue flowers with a yellow centre dance above mid green lanceolate leaves in late Summer. 60cm high x 80cm wide. This is an older variety that has stood the test of time. We bought our original plants from Yellow House Heritage Perennials and have enjoyed growing this rare cultivar. Enjoys a little extra watering during dry periods. Frost hardy.

'Violetta' has dark indigo purple buds which open to lovely violet purple daisies with a yellow gold centre. Flowers in late Summer and Autumn. Dramatic and exquisite. New to us. Reputedly more sun and drought tolerant than most Astilbe. Having said that 'Chocolate Shogun' still prefers dappled shade and moist conditions. Bronze chocolate foliage give this handsome plant its name. Flowers appear in Summer like icing sugar held high above the foliage. 60-80cm tall.

Known as Pillar of Smoke or Australian Plume Grass. We have grown this native grass in our stock beds for the past three years. It is one of the earliest of our ornamental grasses to flower in Spring. Makes a dense mass of finely textured plumes giving the appearance of smoke. It is reported that if planted in moist well drained soil this grass will grow up to 2 metres tall. We have found it to not reach much above 1 metre, however it will vary from one microclimate to another. Austrostipa ramosissima holds its own amongst ornamental grasses. Its form and presence is like no other exotic or native grass.

Soft felty silver green leaves with a hint of bronze and a low mounding evergreen habit are the reasons why this plant is widely grown. Makes a beautiful contrast to dark green foliage plants. As it is native to dry Mediterranean regions, Ballota requires sharp drainage and full sun with little extra water. 50 x 50cm.

A dark green rush-like sedge that is very useful in swampy places, dams, pool and ponds. Native to Australia and New Zealand, this evergreen sedge spreads by rhizomes and can easily be managed as small clumps. Looks best grown in full sun with wet or at least constantly moist soil. 40cm tall.

A deciduous Berberis with a slender narrow upright growth habit. Grows to 1m high and 50cm wide. 'Pow Wow' prefers full sun and good drainage. Light green, splashed with cream foliage that is a vivid lime green in Summer with new growth. Autumn foliage is spectacular giving this plant its name 'Pow Wow'. Intense orangey pink to red tones adorn the upright spiky stems in late Autumn and early Winter.
