Growing up in South Africa, Melianthus major gives many childhood memories. The peanut butter fragrance of the leaves, the unusual blue green serrated foliage, and the large copper chains of fragrant flowers are all distinguishing features. It grew in many of the gardens in my neighbourhood. As a plant, Melianthus major really impresses. It is very low in maintenance requirements and unpruned reaches 2.5m. A bold statement in the garden and certainly handsome. Iron tough!

A beautiful small growing evergreen Magnolia. Easily maintained and lends itself to hedge planting. Also makes a great feature plant. Mid green attractive leaves give a lush appearance and in Spring support creamy white fragrant flowers with a tinge of pink. 'Little Sarah' is known to reflower in late Summer/Autumn. 2m x 2m. A particularly fine form of Miscanthus. Thanks to Frogmore Gardens for their selection of a darker flower type with great poise. If you want to plant just one Miscanthus as a specimen plant, 'Ferroniere' stands out in form , height and flower. We have been admiring it in our stock beds for a few years and only recently have we offered it for sale. Approx. 1.6m high.

A fabulous Miscanthus often referred to as 'Flame Grass'. Upright clumps of dark green foliage turn bronze and flame orange in Autumn. In cooler climates the Autumn colour is most intense and therefore 'Purpurascens' should be planted somewhere visible to appreciate the hues of a changing season. Tall spikes of soft pink inflorescence are present in Summer and change to a silvery plume in Autumn and Winter. Height 1.2m Width 80cm. Appreciates moist soil. 

A stunning Miscanthus! The golden tassle like plumes appear in late Summer and Autumn, they gracefully hang above the lush green foliage and have a sense of royalty about them. Unlike some other Miscanthus, M. nepalensis prefers fertile, well drained soils and a little extra irrigation. Grows to 1.2m high x 1.2m wide.

A dwarf Miscanthus forming an upright, arching clump and producing bronze feathery flower heads which sit well above the leaves during Summer and Autumn. Like all Miscanthus, will add movement and a graceful form in the garden, particularly when planted in drifts. Full sun. 60cm x 50cm.

The most striking of all the variegated Miscanthus we grow. Rich green broad blades that have conspicuous milky white stripes with copper-coloured plumes that appear above the foliage in Autumn. Forming a sturdy upright clump to 1.8m high this showy ornamental grass will add drama to the landscape. Heat and drought tolerant.

A seriously handsome ornamental grass. The upright nature of 'Capriccio' catches the eye in any landscape. Silvery plumes held high above the foliage add to the appeal of this grass. At 2 metres tall in bloom it certainly grabs attention. Approx. 2m high x 60cm wide.
