Red Beam Switch Grass. At one point in time this was the only Panicum we grew. Now there are many moire, yet we still grow this variety as it deserves a space in our gardens. It differs from other Panicums in that it's foliage turns a true red at the ends in Autumn. At around 1m in height, 'Rotstrahlbusch' flowers with seed heads that stand above the foliage and have the appearance of little sparklers especially when covered in dew.

One of many fabulous Persicarias bred by Belgian Landscape Architect, Chris Ghyselen. Only recently have Persicaria been used widely in garden planting. Their increase in popularity due in part to the influence of Piet Oudolf. The great array of colours and forms available is due to Chris Ghyselen's passion for the development of new cultivars.
Persicarias are fantastic plants to incorporate into the garden. We grow them in amongst Rudbeckia, Sanguisorbia, Helenium, Miscanthus, Panicum and Pennisetum. The soil in these beds is enriched with compost, is moisture retentive and heavily mulched.
'White Eastfield' is a shorter variety that reaches 90cm high and has dark green leaves which are narrow and pointed. Numerous spikes of white slightly drooping flowers appear in Summer and continue until early Winter. 90cm x 90cm. -
Phillyrea angustifolia
$14.00
Buy 1 for $14.00 / Buy 5 for $60.00
In recent drought conditions it becomes very clear the plants that need extra attention and those that can be left alone and will still bring reward. Phillyrea angustifolia has proved to be standout - they still look lush and fresh despite little rain. Tough as old boots. If left unattended it will become an undistinguished evergreen shrub to 2.5M. Clipped once or twice a year it will hold a preeminent position in the garden and can be kept to under 1M in height. Drought, heat, frost and salt tolerant. Phillyrea are olive related which explains their toughness. They need plenty of light and a reasonably well drained soil. Highly recommended. The only trouble we have with Phillyrea is the propagation so at this stage we only have a few for sale - until we can master the technique.
