This variety was bred by T. Yamamoto in Japan in 1960. It is a remarkable cultivar in that it has exceptionally large double lacecap flowers. The outer flowers are attached to long stems which carry them away from the main body of the flowers. This feature has the appearance of fireworks. Height 1.6m x 1.2m in width. Hardy, deciduous shrub for part shade or filtered light. Protect from harsh sun.

'Heinrich Seidel' has a reputation for blooming heavily and easily turning purple with a darker central eye on the individual florets. Densely clustered flowers smother the 1.5m high shrub in late November. Very eye catching, making great bleached tones when cut for an indoor display.

Calming and graceful, 'Hobella' has lacecap flowers in the softest, most glorious pink. Compact in habit to 1.2m 'Hobella' is a must-have Hydrangea. Plants with french names seem to bring more emotion to the choice. Perhaps that's just me! This variety was bred in France by Henri Cayuex in 1923 and is still one of the best white forms. 'The Swan' in translation has pure white graceful mopheads with unusually pointed sepals. It is a strong cultivar which can reach 1.6m in ideal conditions. As with all mophead hydrangeas, enriched and well mulched soil with ample moisture and semi shade are conducive to good results. A hardy, deciduous shrub if protected from harsh sun.

Bred in Germany in 1962, 'Leuchtfeuer' is a superb deep pink to rosy red flowering Hydrangea. This compact plant has glossy green foliage (with red edges in Autumn) and blooms over a long period. Add lime to the soil to keep the colour true to the fiery pink. Makes a great cut flower. Leuchtfeuer translates to beacon in English.
